2002 Bowman Heritage baseball card set
The 2002 Bowman Heritage set again contains 440 in it's base set (not including inserts or bonus cards), and was designed to look similar Bowman's original 1954 baseball card set, which is still a very popular set today.
115 of the 440 cards are considered Short Prints (SP's). Short Prints are base cards that were printed in less quantity than the other base cards, causing them to be more difficult to find.
The main rookie cards in this set are David Wright and Joe Mauer.
I believe the most sought after card from 2002 Bowman Heritage is the Topps certified authentic Albert Pujols autograph card. Along with Albert Pujols, thirteen other players from the year 2002 can be found with certified authentic autograph cards in the Bowman Heritage set from that year.
As usual with modern baseball card sets, 2002 Bowman Heritage includes a "Relic" insert set featuring 26 stars from 2002 with each card containing a piece of the players uniform.
2002 Bowman Heritage also included 3 different parallel sets which were:
1. Black Box - 55 cards from the 2002 Bowman Heritage set can be found in a "Black Box" variation. They're just like the regular cards except the box on the front for the players name is black. These were inserted at an average rate of 1 in every 2 packs.
2. Chrome Refractors - Only 350 of each Chrome Refractor was produced. The set contains 110 cards. These cards were inserted at an average rate of 1 in every 16 packs.
3. Gold Refractors - Only 175 of each Gold Refractor was produced. The set contains 110 cards. These cards were inserted at an average rate of 1 in every 32 packs.
Bowman also included a 1954 Bowman Reprint set featuring 20 stars from 1954, and had six of those players sign 54 cards each in red ink. The autograph checklist for this insert set includes: Yogi Berra, Clem Labine, Del Crandall, Don Mueller, Dave Williams and Johnny Logan.
